This large 36 x 36 organic abstract painting is one in my new series celebrating spring and the promise of hope and new life.
My Inspiration: As the tulips and perennials were peeking their heads up outside my sun room studio, I was compelled to create a series of paintings to celebrate and mirror the coming spring. The elements of water and light, married with the beautiful colors of corals, greens and soft yellows beckoned to me. Abstracted flora petals and new sprigs of green growth dance in reflection in the water. Perhaps my favorite part of painting is intentionally placing colors side by side to make them sing. This was Monet's secret and I constantly aware of using that knowledge as I paint. Look closely and see the coral strokes placed beside the blue-greens…they sing! Same for the reds and greens, and the pastel aquas and peaches. I always strive for movement in my paintings, so the viewer is actively moving the eye in enjoyment around the entire painting. I enjoy creating contrast as well, thus the passages of light against the dark of the flora. This piece feels peaceful and restful, while still filled with color and joy.
A little more on my technique: I work in an additive and subtractive approach, layering paint and scraping areas back with tools (even kitchen spatulas) to previous layers. This makes for incredible depth and interest as colors of previous layers peek through. Look closely, and you'll see splashes of color that I have flung on with heavily loaded brushes of paint.
I've added photos of the painting in various rooms and colored walls. If you don't see your color wall, please contact me and I will add a photo with the color you choose, so you can get the best possible idea of what this painting will look like in your home.
Shipping: Every painting is professionally wrapped by a shipping company specializing in artwork. The painting is first wrapped in bubble wrap, then single sheets of heavy cardboard are placed on either side of the artwork. The art is then placed on a nest of popcorn packaging material, and more popcorn material is placed inside the box to entirely surround protect of painting. The outer cardboard box is sturdy to insure safe delivery.
Please contact me with any question you have. I will be delighted to hear from you and help you find the perfect painting to bring light and joy to your home!
